The University of SydneyPage 14USA Patriot Act–Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act–It was signed into law on Oct 26 2001–The goal is to enable law enforcement agencies with the tools necessary to investigate and apprehend people that are suspected for planning or carrying out terrorist acts–Other Associated acts ( Patriot act extends them)–Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)(defines rules and regulations for protection of privacy of electronic communication)–Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)(defines standards for wiretapping/surveillance of electronic communication)–Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA)(defines rules and regulations aimed at prevention of computer “hacking”)
