➢2018 -California Consumer Privacy Act ( CCPA ): This Act gives consumers more control over the
personal information that businesses collect about them. This landmark law secures new privacy
rights for California consumers. [A weaker version of GDPR] (https://oag.ca.gov/privacy/ccpa )
✓The CCPA defines “personal information” as information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably
capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular
consumer or household.
✓Theright to know about the personal information a business collects about them and how it is used and
shared;
✓Theright to delete personal information collected from them ( with some exceptions );
✓Theright to opt -out of the sale of their personal information; and
✓Theright to non -discrimination for exercising their CCPA rights.
